Pyramid Gold flats: forest green silks

Just installed a fresh custom set of .040 - .100 Pyramid Gold flats on this Chowny CHB-1. The set has forest green silks at both ends, and the ball ends are brass. The bass is freshly back from the luthier, rewired from V-V-T-T to Master-V-V-T. A Nordstrand Tone Drop replaces the original pot(s).

The set replaces a three-year-old set of La Bella Low Tension Flats (medium scale), which I just deposited at our local music store's string recycle bin.

So far (an hour's playing time, maybe, and yet to set the witness points and perform a final setup) the Pyramids lend themselves to that British Invasion thump I want from this bass. It is the Chas Chandler vibe I had in mind when I bought this bass five years ago. The Pyramids appear to be the final piece of the puzzle.

Just checked the neck relief. No adjustment is necessary, which may suggest the Pyramids and LTFs have similar pulling tension. The neck hasn't shifted since installing the strings a day ago.

The Pyramids feel about as supple as the LTFs, but without the glassy smooth surface. There's some tactile feedback from from the surface, which I am enjoying. No change in bridge saddle height, either.
