pyramid golds on ric 4003

im thinking of buying a set of pyramid gold flats for my new ric 4003 i have them on my hofner and i was so impressed with the sound that came from them, only prob is that being a novice i have only ever changed strings once and that was on the hofner which has a really simple bridge setup. do i have to make any other adjustments other than just changing 1 string at a time on the ric ? im going to post a link to the strings, can anyone tell me if the gauges and length are ok, they are longscale 40-55-75-105 any advice would be greatly appreciated

regards chris

yes i do prefer the sound with flats, i was told a couple of years ago that macca does have pyramid golds on his hofner, and that these strings are superior to most flats , i put a set on mine and wow, perfectly creating the early beatles stuff, taxman etc

To actually answer your question; it is not uncommon to have to adjust your intonation/action when changing string brands, guages, or from rounds to flats. And of course the Rickenbacker bridge is notoriously difficult to adjust.
As someone who makes a living with a left-handed Hofner and Rickenbacker, I tried Pyramid flats on my 4001S and didn't dig them. While I was using them on my Hofner at the time, I didn't like them on the Ric. They were too floppy-feeling for me, and I couldn't get ANY high-end from them, for songs like "With A Little Help From My Friends", etc.
For years now I have used GHS Precision Flatwounds on the Ric, and Labella's "Beatle Bass" set on the Hofner.
Hope this helps.

And, from everything I've read(that's trustworty), McCartney plays Labellas. Pyramid makes the strings Hofner sells as it's own brand(they're the same strings as Pyramids, just different silk color), and the strings that come on new Hofners, that is where the confusion started.

yes that does help a lot thanks, i dont know what to do now lol, everyone says diff things about diff makes of flats on the ric, i suppose at the end of the day it comes down to personal prefertence, im not sure to put pyramids on it now if the highs cant be hit, but maybe these ghs precision if they are good, also someone mentioned labella deep talking bass, really im confused at which ones to use now, i would of put pyramid golds on if i hadnt got advice from here first HELP lol
