Q for power amp users

Preamps are all about tone & features.

What tone are you after (or range of tones) and what features are important to you?

Whether you use an active or passive bass guitar can impact your decision as well.

I love active basses because I can set my preamp EQ to where I get a good basic all-around tone and then fine tune for the acoustics of the venue and the requirements of a given song from my bass guitar instead of jacking with my amp behind me.

To thosw of you who use power amps, like a crown/QSC etc:

what kind pre amp do you prefer, what do you look for?

i look for the one that sounds the best..................TO ME! ;)

and believe me, i've bought ALOT of them:

maybe these two pages on my website will help a little:

I've also used quite a few, but I keep on coming back to my old favorite, the BBE 383 bass preamp. Why? Mainly because it has enough balls to drive any power amp I've tried, ability to bi-amp, active crossover, compressor, one space rackable, BBE process function, and great eq. And , you can usually find them on Ebay for around $100.
