I actually have a bigger problem. The guy mixing the sound doesn't have a lot of experience. He has been a bit paranoid about pushing the bass in the mains, because they are actually owned by another player in the band, and he doesn't want to damage them. This was a bigger problem with the K12's than the 153's, but still an issue. I did not have previous experience with the K12's; so, didn't know how far they could be pushed with the bass. I do have previous experience with the 153's; so, I know what those can comfortably do, and we are not close.
Anyhow, I am dealing with both paranoia and a lack of experience/understanding how to EQ the bass. Somehow, these guys think the bass should mostly be pushed into the bass bins; which, of course, sounds like mud. It's a new system, and I have been content to let this slide while they sort out how to run it. I have more than adequate rig capability to carry the house from the back line; so, not so urgent. But, we are getting close to where I can review without rocking the boat.
