Question about Modulus Pickup Placements

I've seen Modulus Quantuams with different pickup placements. Here are examples (sorry if I stole your picture):

1. Neck pickup is right against the neck

2. Nick pickup is about 1/2in away from the neck

3. My bass. Turbo Option where one is sweetspot and one is right by the bridge

Now, on my bass (#3), its has a great finger style sound but in my opinion doesnt sound good for slap. I'm confused as to whats the difference between 1 and 2 though.. Any comments?

I think 1 is custome shop and 2 and 3 are standard options that you can ask modulus for a little upcharge without going by the custom shop. I've already seen a modulus on the bay with 3 PUs (bartolinis soap: neck, sweetspot, bridge). 1 and 2 would have a more open sound because of the neck position. I think nb. 2 would be woodier as for the nb.1 being even more open.

realistically. the difference is probably almost unnoticeable. just my guess.
