Question about understanding / using a High Pass Filter

For Double Bass, @fdeck builds a unique preamp with HPF/Buffer/Volume/Phase control specifically designed for DB that use piezo pickups. (Works great on EB too). This might explain why certain people have emphasised use their HPF at the start of the chain.

I use my HPF for EB gigs too, just before my amp. I use an Octave down pedal on my pedal board. The HPF cleans up the mud & rumble, and provides additional tone shaping too [boost lows on amp but cut deep lows using HPF = FAT without mud].

Not so many fx add low end. Unless yours do, you are good either end.

This weekend I was using oscilloscope software to analyze my signal. I ran from my bass to each pedal Independently to the computer and then to my normal signal chain. Mostly looking at the effectiveness of where my compressor is placed and noise filter. What I was really surprised at was that the distortion added more low end than anything. I have the Source Audio Aftershock. The levels of the low end increased more than anything.

Some TBrs buy two HPFs/LPFs.
An HPF/LPF at the beginning and an HPF at the end of the signal chain.

or... (reverbs, delays or other spacial effects should go last, after any HPF or LPF)

Thank you. That's the picture I was thinking of but couldn't remember who posted it.

I've recently purchased a Nano+, added a D'Addario tuner and a reverb, the HPF is now hidden under the board with the power supply. I'll post a pict soon, I'm just waiting to see if I can get a Broughton RESOUND reverb.
