Question for Lakland Owners

Specifically owners of 44-92 or 44-02 basses. The ones with the J and humbucker pickups with the coil tap. I basically want to know if the bridge pickup really gives you a stingray like tone. I know it will do the jazz sound to a tee pretty much, but the ray sound is really enticing to me. The clanky, high output sound, like say Commerfords tone with Rage type sound. The videos online seem to focus more on smoother, less aggressive tones I suppose just because its what more people are looking for in a bass sound. I know the bass sounds good, really good in fact, but I want to know if it'll deliver what I'm really looking for.

I can't swear this is the Stingray tone, but there is a particular sound I get on my Lakland that's primarily the bridge pickup in both-coils-on mode that has this wonderful elastic-y "sprang" to it...very different from the burp-y/burble-y Jaco-esque tone of a Jazz Bass bridge pu. Sometimes it helps me channel my inner Tony Levin, so I suspect it's somewhat Stingray ...-ish.

It's pretty close. But the thing is, is that the humbucker is a little closer to the bridge than a Musicman. This gives it a SLIGHTLY more jazz bass tone than the stingray. A little less... body?

The 44-94 is thicker and smoother sounding. The bridge and the Lakland pickups/preamp are also involved in the sound. Slightly different but in the ball park. I play my cousins which has about 500 hours of live use on it. If you want a hifi MM sound, the Sandberg TM-4 I have is more of a modern sounding version but closer to the original between the two. They come with the Delano pickups and Glock preamp. I think the Stingray sits right int between the two from thicker hotter (Lakland) over to clearer with a nice midrange bite (Sandberg). I've played both through Gk Legacy and Aggie TH500 for tonal comparison.
