so let me get this straight. a few certain people are disrespecting someone for posting in a manner they don't agree with? mm has never insulted or disrespected anyone on this site (or anyone for that matter that i can remember) and yet folks are riding him because his attempts to contribute don't agree with them?

So its like the theory about what creates a bad neighbourhood [...]if people take the trouble to do something about it straight away and fix the window, then it doesn't go downhill and that neignbourhood stays a good one!![]()
No I don't see we are disprespecting him as a person - I know nothing about him as a person and have no doubt when other people who do, have said he is a great guy!
What we are talking about is also not that he is attempting to make a contribution - but rather the sheer frequency of new threads along the same lines that seem to be "lifted" directly from somewhere else and are just stuck up there - to clutter up the site!
I have been on other boards where certain people have just copied a topic from the news every day and stuck it in a thread with no comment and no point/purpose.
You should have seen the flak/flaming they got and in fact the admin eventually developed rules about this, stopping it!!![]()
So this is about behaviour on the board - so this site is called TALK Bass - to me talking is about a two-way conversation.
It's not - let's post a random topic and leave it there to see what other people say. Whatever that is - it's not "talking" as such - and I don't see why we should sit back and allow the board that we love, to be over-run with this stuff, rather than genuine two-way conversation(s)?
I think that if this kind of thing goes unchallenged it will become the "Norm" for the board - people will sign on and see all this stuff and think :
"That's what Talk Bass is about - I better go along with it and do the same kind of thing!"
So its like the theory about what creates a bad neighbourhood (which has been studied extensively) - so if windows are broken and go unfixed then the neighbourhood goes downhill drastically, crime increases, antisocial behaviour etc. But if people take the trouble to do something about it straight away and fix the window, then it doesn't go downhill and that neignbourhood stays a good one!![]()
Of course, that's assuming the neighborhood was any good to begin with.![]()
All this energy you've wasted, and yes you've wasted it, posting these long posts about the Major threads, could be spent playing bass, or drinking some of that delicious beer you have in your neck of the woods. Did you ever think about that?

You're not going to change it. Give up... .

you are undoubtedly the worst offender at repeatedly recycling posts (most often your own on the sanctity of the "good old days" or else some other perceived nit that needs picking) and as for clutter? .
I need to agree with this. Thor nailed it with all his pseudo mm threads: Lots of bandwidth wasted and, for the most part, zero substance. The funny thing is, Thor got reamed for doing it ('cause it was in jest), and mm continues posting creepy questions where he contributes nothing at all.I too dislike MM's question threads and they often creep me out to some extent. You can't ignore him as he's a moderator, though. I deal with this by checking the OT forums only like once a month.
