QUestion for the pick players out there...

What are you using for a pick (brand/model/type/etc)?

I've always played finger style for bass, but my band has taken on some songs that require pick use, so I'm looking for input on what other people are using. I have messed with playing with a pick before on bass (and play guitar with one as well)... I tend to gravitate toward medium weight picks for guitar, but feel I need something heavier for bass.

Thanks!

Classic Fender Heavy (white). Gets a good edge for the punkier sounds, and really doesn't give on the fast stuff. Doesn't sound plastic at all. Available anywhere, and pretty inexpensive. Great for guitar, too.

Dunlop .88 or 1mm Nylon. They last forever, but difficult to see if dropped on a dark stage... So take a handful if you drop 'em. I am lucky enough to still have 'em all... If I'd only have taken 1, it'd be gone I'm sure - Murphy's Law ya know!

The purple "Big Stubby".

They are epic.

Agreed, I really like the Big Stubbies, especially the 2.0mm.

I also like a felt pick, but only when it's new. I don't know if this is common to all felt picks, but the Dunlops I've tried get compacted pretty quickly and you lose the softer attack, leaving you with something close to the sound of a harder pick (like plastic). But while they're new, they're pretty nice, especially with flats.
