Question on TC RH750 head running 3 cabs

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a TC Electronic RH750 head and getting 3 RS cabs (4x10, 2x10, and 2x12). I want the versatility as the size of gigs range drastically. I want to be able to run to a basement practice and use just the 2x10's and be able to hook up all three if I'm playing at a conference type setting.

My question is, if I'm running all 3 cabs with the RH750 head, and lets say its a bigger type show where I need lots of volume, will the same amount of power going to my 4x10's go into my 2x10's? Will this set up potentially fatigue or damage my 2x10's? I'm not a very technical guy so before I take the plunge on this set up I want to make sure I won't be damaging the 2x10's

First thing to consider is the impedance of the 3 cabs, and the minimum the amp can handle. If the RH750 is stable down to 4 ohms, (?), and the cabs are 8 ohms each, it will NOT work. The 2nd thing to consider when mixing cabs of equal impedance, each cab will receive exactly the same amount of power from the amp, so yes, the 210 would be in "danger" of being blown if paired with a 410. It's always best to use matched cabs anyway, every time- so consider first the amps min., and then add up as many of the same cabs as possible. ie: IF the amp is stable to 2 ohms, you could use up to 4 8 ohm 210's- which is as modular as you would ever need, (210/410'/610/810)
 
I don't understand something here. The minimum impedance rating of the RH450/750 is 4 ohms. Yet this is from their own website:

Using a combination of RS cabs offers you maximum flexibility ranging from, for example, RS212 and RS210 in a vertical stack for small to medium-sized gigs, or RS212, RS410 and RS210 for the bigger gigs where loudness and punch really count.

Assuming their cabs are all 8 ohms, this results in a load of 2.7 ohms. I suspect the amps actually are stable to 2.7 ohms but, for some odd reason, they don't want to come out and say it. Maybe it's so you don't feel free to use other manufacturers' cabs.

yes, you see...THAT is the image that got me hooked on this set up. Rickenboogie suggests that this set up is NOT a good idea yet TC electronics advertises it on their site via photo....Hmmm...what should I do guys?

I think it's because TC knows the worst case scenario with their own cabs, but has no control over cabs from other origin.

That is NOT a good idea in my book as well; I would get 3 identical cabs.
 
I found this in the online owners manual for the RH750:

"Setting up
• Connect the Speaker Out jack of the amplifier to your
cabinet using a speaker cable. Both Speakon and ¼” jack
cables can be used. RS cabinets come with a speaker cable
included, so if you have bought a RS cabinet, you are all set
to go.
• You can connect up to three TC Electronic RS cabinets
or any other two 8 Ohm cabinets of another brand to the
amplifier. (minimum load: 4 Ohm)."

This answers my question, you can power 3 cabs but it doesn't really say if I use 3 different size cabs, the littlest one will get completely destroyed...

If you look at the advertising done by almost every manufacturer out there you will see a 4x10 mated to a 1x15. It's a very poor match but there it is time and time again!

I agree with Rickenboogie. Running a 4Ω minimum amp at 2.67Ω is dangerous for the amp.
 
Yeah, if you're going to buy TC cabs, go ahead and get 3 if you want, BUT, get 3 of the same kind for best results. All this talk by amp makers, (the advertizing guys, NOT the engineers) to mix all the different size cabs is complete nonsense. 3 of the 210's should cover ANY gig, 3 of the 212's could be overkill, but fun. 3 mixed cabs will achieve poor results, compared to 3 identical cabs.
 
Weird, TC does say any 3 TC cabs with there heads.
power wise, that makes me thing each of those cabs will get a third of the power sent out. So when you divide that by the number of speakers in each cab your 12s and 2x10 10's will get twice as much power as the 10's in the 4x10, however I think if you are using them all at once i think they would be fine.

I am pretty sure each speaker has a rating around 150 -200 watts or something, with a 750 watt head split into three, then again in half is 125. I doubt you'll dime that rig though, so you should be fine lol
 
I use two RS210 cabs with my Markbass F1 head and my 55-02D bass in one particular band. I stack the cabs vertically with the little F1 on top. I get very nice lowend, good volume that handles my 5 stringer bass very well. I use the low-C, D notes frequently and these cabs dont show any stress at all.

This in a 4 pc, no PA support, new country/classic rock band. Mostly in 100-150 seat nite clubs so far. I'd think 3 RS210's would be a most portable, modular rig for OP. He might wanna stack his 3 cabs horizontally though. :smug: :bassist:
 
U should be fine with 3 cab setting that u want...I used two since there ain't much money in my bank...

I'm actually wanting a 4x10 so bad XD or 212 or even 210

Be sure to look at RS page on tc's and see what cab setting u can use!( In manual page)
