Hi,
Ok, so i have rather a lot of (strange) questions, so please bear with me!
I took the cover off the amp prior to asking these questions.
1: When the mute button is pressed, there is still sound coming from the woofer if the master is cranked. is this normal?
2: In the GK manual, it states:
"Effects Return: Returns the Effects Loop signal
to the signal path. May also be used as a secondary
input for another instrument or CD player. The preamp
signal is not interupted if the Send jack is not used."
But when I plug my iPod into the effects return (and nothing in the effects send) it cuts off my bass input so all i can hear is the ipod..
3: The manual says to use a 10A fuse for 230v, but mine has a 5A fuse in it. Does that matter?
4: I thought the GK 1001RB was suppost to have 2 amps in it, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter. I can only see one? I'm probably wrong though..
5: The big heatsink gets very hot, no matter what i'm doing. Even if i'm just playing my ipod quietly through it, it will still get hot quickly, and then the fan will kick in. However, the heatsink gets too hot to touch and the fan still hasnt come on. it only comes on later. And it seems to have a mind of its own. it never spins fast enough to make an audiable noise. Some people complained that the fan on this amp loud, making studio recording a pain. but mine is silent. Also, once it starts spinning, if i give it a little spin, it will continue to spin faster and not revert to its original slow pace. alternatively, if i stop the fan, it wont start again until i spin it. this is at 8ohms. I'm scared to try it at 4ohms for fear it will catch fire.
6: When plugged in and switched on, i put my finger on the circuit board and felt a weird static feeling on my finger. Is it suppost to discharge electricity like that?
7: There seem to be 3 or so plug sockets in the amp that don't have any wires going into them. I've included some pics to illustrate what i mean:
And one of the whole amp:
Cheers for ANY help given!
Thanks
