Hi everyone !
Yesterday I bought a Little Big Muff π from a shop, and to test it before buying it I grabbed a Cort Action V Plus. And I quite liked it. Comfortable, nice to play, the lightest thing I have ever picked up, great sound when unplugged, almost sounds like the body is hollow (reminds me of an Ibanez SR500 I once knew), and after plugging it in I really liked the tone, very clear (with the fuzz turned off obviously), quite different from my own heavier (both in weight and in sound) basses. I wasn't actively looking for a new bass, I can't really say I need one, but I am tempted. I've been thinking for a while I should get a Jazz Bass some day, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a classic Fender style JB, this could be seen as a modern take on the JB, right ? (I actually never tried a JB so I might be talking absolute rubbish)
So, first thing, the bass is in a shop that normally sells second hand stuff (not specialized in musical instruments), but they bought it from a guitar shop nearby that closed recently, so it's brand new. They sell it for 299 €, does that seem reasonable to you ? I've seen it for less than that on the Internet, but it's a much lower price gap than usual between shops and the Internet, I can consider paying a bit more for having it in my hands and making sure everything is OK before buying it.
I like the sound it has as it is so changing the pickups might not be necessary. But I do have questions about them.
First, the bass is active, with a preamp and a 2 bands eq, but are the pickups active or passive ? If they're passive, and if they sound good without the help of the preamp, I could remove the preamp or at least add an active/passive switch.
And are they actually single coils ? Or noiseless JB pickups with 2 coils each ? I can't have a bass with a JJ pickup configuration without adding a switch to put the pickups in series, but if the pickups already have 2 coils each, can that still work ?
Thanks in advance !
