What does it mean when the word "Guest" appears under a user name? How is "Guest" different from "Registered User?"

Well usually it just means the person ISN'T a registered user, but since you have to be one in order to post, my guess is it's someone whose account was deleted for some reason.

Are these old threads? On another board I'm on they used to allow guests back in the day. They don't anymore, but when you read old posts the people still come up as a guest.

Nope, recent.

I've only noticed it a two or three times.

It's a deactivated, but not deleted accounts. Posts stay but the said username can't login anymore. I changed usernames back in the time, and that's how my old nickname is described.

Well that brings up another question. I didn't think you could change your user name unless you were changing it from a pseudonym to your real name.

you can't. So if the criteria don't apply, you need to close old account and open new one.
