Quick Question: Angled Headstock

At how many degrees should I angle a headstock? Is there a minimum or maximum angle I should shoot for? Is there perhaps an optimum or at least a pretty standard angle?

I use no more than a 10 degree angle. I don't see the need for any more than that.

10-15 is common. I use 15.

There is no true minimum, but usually 6- 8 is the bare minimum most use, and 10+ is usually around the optimum, it all depends in the builder. I use 10 and 12 for my 2 jigs. Some instruments I like a little sharper break like 4 and 5 strings, and less as the string number gets higher. 10 is always a good place to start, and if you decide you would like a little more, you can retool your jig.

I've lost the article, but I had a mag with a Ken Parker interview (might have been Premier Guitar?), and in it, he said he's tried many different neck angles and settled on 4.5 or might have been 4.25 degrees. He said anything less and the strings won't stay seated in the saddles. I assume anything more is then unnecessary from his view. All that said, I use 9.45 degrees and if anyone can figure out why, you get a gold star...

Length of 6 inches and a drop of 1 inch gives about 9.46 degrees, so I'm guessing you mark out the angle by XY positioning of the endpoints in nice round numbers rather than direct angular measurement...
