Quieter switches.

I’m in rehearsals for theatre show. The band will be on stage. I am using the new Radial BassBone and the new BigShot IO. Three bass gig.

The music director is concerned about the ‘clicks’ as I switch between basses. There are definitely some very quiet moments. At this point I'll have to mark my parts for when to hit a switch.

Is it possible to upgrade the units to switches that don't make a loud click? I've also written to Radial.

IME those pops/clicks are sometimes more related to how you're powering your effects (and the power itself at the venue) than the actual switches. What are you using for a power supply?

Hi Steve, this is probably an expensive solution to your problem, but the wonderful Link Removed has absolutely silent switches. It's one of the main selling points for players like us who do musical theatre. It's great for choir gigs too. The unit has so many great features, but this is one they don't really advertise.

Yeah IME it's usually either the way you're powering or the pedals you're using. Sometimes the bypasses whether they're buffered or true can give you issues when you combine them on the same board.

What does your entire rig consist of from the bass(es) to the pedals to your amp? Is it just what you named in your OP?

I know there are times when i get pop and others times when I don't get pop out of the same pedals. My bypass looper will pop at times depending on what I have engaged in my chain. Also, there could be an easy fix. Try engaging and disengaging all your pedals right after you've powered them on. Sometimes a static charge is produced when they're powered on. Do that's about 4 to 5 times with each pedal and see if it fixes it. If it doesn't, you may have some pedals that don't like each other. Or even try pedal order. That fixes it at times too.

And to answer your one question about the replacing the switches, yeah there is soft touch relay. But I'm not an engineer so I can't say with certainty that this can be a mod you can do with any old pedal. Darkglass uses them, like those switches. That would be a question for someone like @johnk_10 or @boomertech

Greg, I think he meant the physical sound of the switches themselves being depressed, even without audio; not an audio artifact resulting from the switches being used to operate the pedals.

Yes, that looks like a great product. I went with the BassBone V2 since it seemed like a good device for double bass and electric. And it is. I hadn't considered the clicks until starting this rehearsal.

I may have to go with a couple of volume pedals rather than switches.
