First rehearsal out with the v803 mated with a Barefaced Super Compact. Used the Warm setting the whole time.

I confirm it's a great duo.

LOL, I matched the bass to the cab in fact (I had the cab before the bass).
Well, wait, I think I've actually matched both the bass and the cab to my band's name…

I would look at the GK Neo IV 112 unless you have enough money for one of the Barefaced 12" (SC, SC-T, BB3).

Less money - RevSound RS112 or RS112T.

But there are a lot of good 1x12's out there.

Is the GK Neo colored, or a more neutrally voiced cab, compared to the Barefaced and RevSounds?

I'd say they are fairly close together, with the Barefaced SC-T & BB3 being more neutral, SC - a bit of roll-off above 4k (which I actually prefer) and then the GK Neo IV 112 & 212 (I think the GK 115 and 210 are a bit more voiced with a slight emphasis on different frequencies) and RevSound's 112 / 212 are very close to each other.

I would be perfectly happy with any one (or two) of any of those cabs!

It's a pretty good trick being able to switch between voices on the v803 without affecting the volume. I don't have a clear favorite because they are useful in creating the vibe I want for a variety of styles. The differences are more apparent when pushed.

Yes, it's one of my favorite features. With a hybrid amp, if I change the gain in the middle of a show, I have to compensate with the master volume, so the voice selector in the Quilter is much easier to use.

That said, most of the time I keep the same voicing during all the rehearsal or gig and I use a pedal if I want to add dirt. I don't know why. I think it's not because I'm lazy, but because it sounds so good that I don't want to change. I like the 3 voices, but I think I'm using the "warm" more often than the others.

I'm finding the warm setting to be a nice blend of the modern and Qtube setting.

I'm one of those who loves running a pre into the front end for a little extra tone shaping.
I love the eq on the 803, but I like fine tuning stuff.
So currently I've been using this recreation of an Ashly SC-40.
What I like most is the para eq.
But I'm looking for a different flavor.
i guess transparent and a little hi-fi sounding.
Don't need anything overdrive related because the Quilter gives me that.
So was seeing what suggestions you people might have.
One pedal i was considering is the Genzler Magellan.
Thoughts? opinions? recommendations?
I'm all ears.

Just choose one with enough gain to push the Quilter. I bet the Genzler will work well. Another one mentioned in this thread was the SA Zio. I'd also check out Tech 21, Sushi FX, Aguilar, Ampeg, etc.

The Magellan preamp will easily drives any power amp. If the power amp has a balanced input, use a TRS cable from the output to either a TRS or XLR(M) plug depending on what the power amp will accept.

Try it both ways, you may prefer it directly into the power amp input.

The Magellan and the RE/Q are two different tools, I don't really understand exactly what you are trying to accomplish so I'm not sure I can be helpful.

Lack of a better way to say it, is open up the tone.
Get things a little more defined.

I would think the Magellan into the power amp input would get you there more easily.
