It's a Squire Vintage modified P bass. Replaced the P with a Duncan SPB-1 and bridge is a DiMarzio Ultra Jazz.
E /A strings are Ground Wounds and D/G are Chromes. Bass captures a bit of the T Bone Wolk tone/ vibe. Love it and it's a player in constant rotation. Fit, finish and fret work is better than some American Fenders I've picked up too. Great platform to modify and would recommend trying one out if you can.

Not connected yet but I had to just see what things would look like. Order placement not set yet either because now I need to see what’s best for my sound(s)...nice Sunday afternoon for experimentation!

I’m thinking the simplistic, minimalist approach is what drew me to this amp. For 25 years I just plugged my bass directly into a amp and didn’t even want a tuner pedal inline but change can be good...there’s been so many changes in my family, bands, and just life in general.
Thinking I’m going to have to buy another BB800 and have 2 different setups (just occurred to me while I was typing this) because out of the many different bands I’m playing in, some require the Pedaltrain Jr layout and the tuner and Locomotive setup would be perfect for the blues bands. Just when I thought I was done making purchases, I had to find the perfect excuse to make more!

Gain either around 8 or just under 5 or around 3. Depends on what sound I want. Master gets set to volume I need.

I don't know if it is possible in V2 to make another switchable gain stage, but it would be useful for me because I go back and forth between the saturated and unsaturated gain. Not a big deal though, just a thought.

The amp doesn't have a built-in drive circuit, just a comp/limiter. How can you hear some breakup?

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. What is "V2"? Saturated/unsaturated gain? o_O

Never heard mine clipping, to be honest. The internal compressor, if set properly, simulates the compression that happens in tube amps when they're pushed hard. They breakup (go into overdrive) AND compress the signal. With the BB800 I hear just the compression, not the overdrive. Am I missing something or what?
Are you talking about feeding the amp with dirt pedals?

I posted sound clips back in post numbers #406 and #407. No dirt pedal, just a passive bass into the BB800. I'm not an effects guy so maybe "clipping" is the wrong word for what I'm hearing. Whatever you call it, I was initially very surprised that the BB800 sounded dirtier than my PF20T, an actual tube amp.

Pat Quilter himself helped me out by email, and suggested lowering the Gain and raising the Master. I've been very happy with my tone since following his advice. Once I dialed in that "sweet spot" the BB800 really shines. :)

Yes, the BB800 has some very nice overdrive. If you’re not getting it, it “might” be because the output of your bass is low. With my Dingwall’s and Spector’s, I can start getting OD as early as 5 on the gain but that’s in the passive input. The OD is easier to hear and discern if you roll down your treble.

Just use a pre to drive the input signal hot. I tried a tube pre in the input and liked it a lot; really I am not sure if it were A/B'd behind a curtain with a tube amplifier...perhaps many would not know the difference.
