Thanks for the info!According to the Quilter website the 1x10 is 30.9lbs and the 1x12 is 37lbs or about 20% heavier.
I know I mentioned it before, but it's worth mentioning again: I really like the demo videos with Nick Campbell!![]()

I received my Bassdock 12 last week. I had the opportunity to use it at 2 outdoor gigs. Great tone, much rounder than my Bassliners. I usually use the the 2x10 Bassliner C with the 2x 10 wedge on top. The new Bassdock 12 held it's own with drummer, and 3 guitarists in a blues band one day, and a classic rock band the next day.
Hi, all.
I just picked up a Bass Block from the classifieds.
So, I'm wondering 1) Is this normal for the amp? and 2) Is any of this indicative of some other problem or potential problem with the amp?
The pops themselves are a "meh" -- not enough to be dangerous nor, I think, to annoy the person running sound in any significant way (and the previous owner reported positive feedback from sound-folks re. the line out).
I might be worrying more than I need to because I had one of these in 2016, shortly after they came out -- that one had major issues out of the box and had to go back, but I was intrigued enough by what I heard that it was always in the back of my mind to try one again. For what it's worth, this amp was new from the factory in 2018.
So, there you go. Any insight is appreciated.
If it's enough to "move the speaker a decent amount" that would concern me. I don't think that the mute button on this one is doing that. The mute button on the old one did, but I don't think it was moving the speaker visibly (which would imply some low-frequency content at a good level), just a high-frequency click-type sound.Mine def does this as well....also last week the mute button was also making a popping sound...did it like 12 times in a row regardless if bass was plugged in...I could see it moving the speaker a decent amount...unplugged it and plugged back in later and could not make it do it again...makes me nervous as it's all i have for a bass head right now..never been the biggest fan of the preamp section...power section is good though
I get the slight pop for on off independent of volume. Honestly I never paid any attention to it until you mentioned it here. I am used to amps doing this. I am sure some do not, but most of the ones I own/have owned do/did.
Mute switch is silent. That said, I would love to see Quilter treat the mute switch more like the speaker on/off on my old SWR head (dedicated switch that stays on/off until you switch it again instead of a soft switch that is reset with power cycle).
Mute switch on this one is quiet, I think. Old one clicked. @golfnsubie's, though -- if the mute switch is causing a pop significant enough to cause visible woofer movement, that's a cause for concern.
That's interesting -- I think that most of the ones I have do not -- or do it in a different way (very low "woomp" vs. a "pop" if that makes sense) and/or to a lesser extent. (I'll be paying attention for the next few days, whenever I power up an amp!) At any rate, it stood out to me when I first powered it up -- not like Yow!, but like Hunh.
Yeah I was playing through my MAS 1,8 which does has move speaker movement than many cabs but regardless...I hit the button quite a few times and it did it everytime regardless of my bass cable being plugged in....funny thing is it hasnt done it since then and it's been played 8+ hours...took my khs mute pedal with me this weekend as I was playing a pretty big venue with a expensive line array setup and plenty of subs, I wasn't gonna be the guy with the pops lol
You, sir, are a respectable gentleman.Got a few pics of my latest rig. Very, very happy with how it sounds.
