R.I.P. Eddie VanHalen

Very sad news, I remember when the very first Van Halen album came out in 1978, Eddie's guitar playing just took everything to a different level.
I saw them in concert on the "Women and Children First" album in Pueblo, Colorado at the college, the band Rail opened up for them, Van Halen just kicked serious ASS!!!! there stage show was HUMONGOUS!!!!
RIP Eddie.

Dang it! Eddie was the king. As far as I’m concerned the yardstick that all other guitar players will forever be measured against. I figured it was coming having heard whispers about his declining health. It just doesn’t seem real.
RIP EVH! You were the greatest!

My brother just texted me about this. Sad, sad news. Eddie was a definite musical hero of mine. Not to try and copy him, but to learn the guitar better.

Thanks for the inspiration Eddie. You left a good mark on this world. God keep you.

Wow, 2020 keeps on giving.

I wasn't the biggest VH fan (I also preferred Sammy to DLR), but I started out on guitar in the 80s and Eddie was such a force. His playing put everyone in awe, even if you weren't a guitar player or didn't care for his flashy guitar heroics. The man was also a gifted songwriter.

And of course, 65 if just way too young.

I don't normally get upset over celebrity deaths, but his genuinely made me sad, and brought a tear to my eye. His riffs and melodies had a massive impact on my playing style. I got to meet him once back in the early 90's, and I consider myself fortunate for that, and being able to see him live several times. Those that never saw him live, truly missed out.

This. High school, hanging out in my friends GTO in the parking lot smoking a jnt. He said check this band out, put the 8 track tape in. Loved it and still do. R.I.P Eddie
