Such a shame. Terrific drummer and interesting man. His arthritis was well-known, this cancer not at all. A private end and a great loss to music and Canadian culture.

Just saw this too.
I knew he had stepped out of touring but didn't know about the health issues he was dealing with.
He was a drummer beyond compare and by all accounts a fine human being. Peace to his family.

Edit: I feel as though we lose a friend when musicians we admire and listen to for many many years die.
Thanks for the music, the concerts, the lyrics, the books, and the solos (about the only drum solos I could stand). Neil, I never met you, but you are an important part of my musical life. You will be missed, thank you for being 1/3 of the best band ever.

Maybe he's up there with his daughter and wife now. Sad to see him go.
