Yep … bummer … 67 is way too young to die … I knew Neil was having health problems with tendonitis but this surprised me Neil Peart, Rush Drummer Who Set a New Standard for Rock Virtuosity, Dead at 67
FARG!!!!!! I just heard this now. Dammit. What a loss for everyone that knew and loved him. R.I.P Neil. I wish I could send my condolences direct to his family. That great gig in the sky just got a wicked drummer and an even better person.
Such a shame. Terrific drummer and interesting man. His arthritis was well-known, this cancer not at all. A private end and a great loss to music and Canadian culture.
Wasn't expecting that, Wow, just WOW! For anyone who doesn't know, he has written a load of books & I understand they're quite interesting: {}
Just saw this too. I knew he had stepped out of touring but didn't know about the health issues he was dealing with. He was a drummer beyond compare and by all accounts a fine human being. Peace to his family.
Too much. Sad, and beyond words. Edit: I feel as though we lose a friend when musicians we admire and listen to for many many years die. Thanks for the music, the concerts, the lyrics, the books, and the solos (about the only drum solos I could stand). Neil, I never met you, but you are an important part of my musical life. You will be missed, thank you for being 1/3 of the best band ever.
