Racing Stripes

I recently just bought a brand new MIM Fender Jazz to mess around with and personalize. It's an Arctic White Body, White Pickguard and Maple neck. First on the list I changed the pickguard, next I want to add racing stripes. I played an old Mustang with the exact same colors, and I just adored the racing stripes, always wanted to put some on, but the colors never matched my other basses, now's my chance.

Now, with the brand new finish, how would I pull this off without damaging it?

EDIT: Here's a quick (and bad) photoshop of the idea I'm looking for.

The Mustang racing stripes emulated car racing stripes which were many times decals or just plain vinyl tape. You can get car decals with individual stripes for laying on one at a time, or in sets that are already spaced and aligned. Buy a kit for a car which will be plenty for several tries at getting it the way you like it. Once you do get it the way you like it (it will peel right off unless you bake it in the sun or leave it on for five years!) and if you decide you want to keep it, take the body to the painter and tell him to replace the decals with paint. For bonus points, make it a hot-rod painter!

I vote flat black. Always elegant.

I was thinking about putting one on my squier backup. Here's a photoshop of what it should look like, if you can't tell, the pickguard is supposed to be mirror. Tell me what you guys think, if only they had a mirror decal it would seal the deal, any idea on a mirror decal?

Maybe Silver Chrome Vinyl Tape?

Here's a photoshop of the mirror decal kinda thing I'm looking for.
