Sorry, I assumed you bumped this old thread because your intentions were similar to the original OP.yeah that's what I was afraid of. I'm trying to figure out how to get a pedal preamp/di to work with a power amp. That way my rig is more modular. Gig with PA and IEM? leave the rackmount box and cab, bring pedals.
most of the rack rigs are using a rackmount preamp. I was hoping to avoid that.

Depends on the pedal....but many of them are more than capable.
A Grace Bix will easily drive a power amp and makes a great foundation for a pedal rig. Mesa Subway DI also looks like a great product for this kind of setup.
QSC and Crown are still easily available. What pedal will you be using?
