I recently picked up a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] which is an active direct box with features designed for piezo pickups such as a 5 Meg Ohm input impedance, phase switch and high pass filter. Since it runs on phantom power, I've been using it with my MarkAcoustic AC-101 which has a combo jack with 48 volt phantom power on the second channel. Though the amp has a 1 Meg Ohm input impedance that works well with piezo pickups, the lower impedance of the StageBug seems to open up the sound a bit, and the hi pass filter and phase switch come in handy too. I've used my Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum in this manner before, but I've noticed that with the Fishman I seem to lose some gain, even with the and Volume and Input Gain controls adjusted. Obviously the StageBug works well as a DI box, but with an amp that offers phantom power like mine it works well as a preamp too.
