Raising my Amp stack set-up higher off the ground

Hi everyone,

I know there's a few threads on this particular topic, but I thought i'd start one specific to my needs.

I'm about to be in possession of two Ampeg 210AVs, to pair with an Ampeg V-4B. In some situations I would like to raise the whole thing (cabs side by side, vertical, with the V-4b on top of both) off the ground by 30-40cm (roughly, could go higher). I realise there's always a big debate that comes up in these things about coupling with the floor for bass response. I get that and sure, in some situations I will just place on the floor. However, in other situations I require the rig to be raised up closer to torso or ear level for practice/recording/certain gig situations.

Just curious what others use to raise their setups off the ground for a similar purpose (clarity and punch) and to get it nearer ear level? I was thinking something as simple as beer crates, I just don't want to get something that can't handle the weight, resulting in a pretty expensive accident.

I have a flightcase for the V-4B, that has a height of about 40cm or so. Maybe I could use that? as long as it can take the weight of the head and two cabs i suppose.
I did what Mapleglo did but added weight specific ( 200 lb each) castors. I stack the Ampeg 2x10's vertically , but the head you have may not sit comfortably on that set-up. Its a pretty small area for a head and it just comfortably fits the Mesa WD800 I have on it. If you are going to set them( cabs)side by side to fit the head , build a box with the correct width and maybe a couple inches extra. Getting it up off the floor and closer to ear level is a good idea.

I did what Mapleglo did and built a box . I also added locking castors . It is nice to have it up at ear level ...it does make a difference . The Ampegs are stacked vertically on my setup but I have a Mesa WD on top that fits . If you are setting them up side by side, you might need a wider riser to accommodate the head width . One of my 4x10s is a “slant” cab which I use indoors...

I wonder why more companies don't do this since 4x10s tend to be pretty low, and a bit bulky to put on a milk crate.

There's no reason that U couldn't put the 210avs Vertical and put the v4b on an combo style stand, next to stack? Or put the v4b on its side, next to vertical av's. I dare say U set & forget the hd. Alternatively, any Flyte case will hold 2 av's side by side with v4b on top .

I use those little RV steps with folding legs. They might not be big enough for some cabs, but they're big enough for the ones I use. They come in two main sizes, roughly 17 by 12 and 19 by 14. There are one or two bigger ones.

Or The best option would b to put
2xAmpeg SVT 210 av's side by side
With 2 more underneath!!!
V4 b can drive 2 ohms , U would have a modular, portable SVT+ Fridge alternative!! I'v heard v4b and 4x AVS, to my taste absolutely A1!!

Err..I'm guessing you're V4B is a newer one.. not sure if vintage ones can push 2ohms..
