Rant:. Please learn the songs, darn it

Why aren't you ranting to the band? I doubt anyone here can help you with your problems.

I think maybe the very nature of a rant is to release pent up frustration, justified or not, in a setting of safety without judgement.
We help just cause we’re here. You helped just by posting.

The other thing that really riles me is when I go to a session and the entire band is out of tune. How difficult is it to check the instrument's in tune when you buy it?

What really irritates me is when you are scheduled for an Audition, asked to lean X amount of songs and when you're at the Audition the band goes off in a completely different direction, throwing out random songs.
The Audition basically turns into a "Jam Session".
Why ask someone to take the time to learn particular songs if you're not going to play them...

Now imagine trying to get that group to focus on preparing 3 sets for a gig!

I'll be over here teaching my dogs the circle of fifths...

The worst is when the BL is the one not learning material. I dealt with this in a previous band, and there wasn't much the rest of us could do about it.

I stepped away from playing music for a number of yrs. My passion to play reignited and after taking some time to shake off the rust while playing at home, I scheduled an Audition.
For a few days before the Audition my mind was going crazy...."Can I do this". .."Do I still got It"?
Needless to say I arrived at the Audition to discover that I was the best musician there. I felt comfortable but their lack or organization and attention to details quickly sent it off the rails....
