Funny thing is, at the store or solo I totally love the sound of Jazz basses, but when you throw them in a mix I'm not as much of a fan (for my particular playing style, I have seen bands that sound great with them).

Yes, on others sound great with a jazz. I played it at my gig, I brought my Sterling Ray4 just for fun. After the 1st set I swapped back to the ray4. Guitar player looks at me & says, that one (Ray4) sounds better

Agree. I’m from Asia Pacific and returns there are basically unheard of. This is a first-world blessing I enjoy (but not abuse).

I am a huge fan of Fender P basses. A couple weeks ago I picked up a Fender jazz at GC (my first jazz) and I love it. Don't care much for the strings but that's a easy fix.

I like jazz basses, and currently have a USA G&L JB that I adore. But I couldn't *only* have a jazz. To me a J has the best stock slap tone (I know, I know, Stringrays are great for that too), and I dig some tone-rolled-slightly-off tones I can get with it. They work for cover band stuff pretty well. It's fun to play, the neck is fantastic.

But when push comes to shove I prefer humbuckers and a pre-amp.

Congrats! Reminds me that I need to return my 2 day old 40th anniversary Squier Jazz. I love it but its already started messing with my shoulder and back and made me remember why I stopped playing for a few years. Just got the Squier Mini P bass today and I love the thing. Cant weigh more than 6 pounds and even a reach out to the 1st fret isn't really much more than a guitar. Still get the P bass tone too! Just wish they made a Mini Jazz, but I do have one on order from a small US company.

So far nothing. Money burning a hole in my pocket. Actually looking at the Yamaha TRBX 504. I lean toward a more modern tone & active eq humbuckers

I love a good return policy. My Sweetwater guy gets nervous every time I show interest in a bass.

Ive yet to make another major purchase from SW (bought a midrange bass years ago with some of the worst fretwork I have ever seen...they were going to charge me a king's ransom to return.) How that passed their whatever point inspection is a mystery. I appreciate that they weigh all highend gear and even make videos. SW has never offered me a price match let alone a better deal when I have inquired. They just dont do it for me even though I am in striking distance of Fort Wayne. That showroom is amazing though, and the staff great. Rather get the deals from GC used section ( from mislabeled and underpriced gear) and do so with no fear of lemons and duds.

That’s a shame. I’ve only had good experiences with them. Return shipping is usually about $20 for a bass. Same with AMS.

My biggest issue with Sweetwater is their lack on “In Stock” instruments and the fact that they’re shipping gear with only half a sleeve of Smarties. That’s some b.s. right there.
