Is the meter really based on the geometry of the earth? I used to teach navigation and the Nautical Mile is defined as one minute of latitude along any line of longitude, which translates to metric as 1852 meters.

24 hour time? Sure, another thing from aviation that I still prefer.

That doesn't make sense to me at all...how can fractions of 10 be less friendly to work with than fractions of 16, 32 and 64? I have to use both systems regularly for work, and the measures expressed in fractions are just an unnecessary pain in the arse...but then again the problem is that an inch is so ridiculously huge when working with small quantities, that if you express it in thousandths (which I do, because it makes more sense to me and it's faster to enter on a calculator), you have to keep everything.

Seriously, what's easier to read and compare: 0.296875'', 19/64''. or 7.54 mm?

Ahhh, so we can blame the French for this metric BS. I knew it!

While we are on the topic, let's get back to logical monetary units too, no more of this dollars and cents garbage. Back in my day 20 shillings were a pound and (of course) 21 shillings were a guinea, what could be more logical than that? And of course 12 pence was a shilling. Base 10 my a**. :roflmao:

Cort, Dean, Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Ernie Ball, Rickenbacker, Schecter and Yamaha, all indicate on their websites the scale length (and sometimes the fingerboard radius) both in metric and imperial. I guess that's because they don't only have customers in Canada and in the USA. So, I don't really see what you're trying to tell us.

The op was about a Canadian customer unable to get the measurements in the standard Imperial measurements.
Not about some other place. That's what this is about.

Just out of curiosity, I decided to try the D'Addario site one more time...

I first made sure the currency is set for USD this time. Then selected EXL170 and checked the tension info, and it showed in inches and pounds. Good. Then selected EXL190 and checked the tension info, and guess what, it showed in mm and kg!

No consistency whatsoever! Enough of this nonsense!
