Reading for bass and cello hurts my head!

Anyone else? Switching from reading bass clef for cello to bass clef for bass is a real pain... if that isn't bad enough today I am reading bass lines written for piano so an octave wrong. I need an aspirin.

Are you playing cello or reading cello parts on bass? I could see where switching between the two instruments would be challenging if you do not do it regularly.

Reading cello parts for cello and bass parts for bass, but it's the switching between the two is the challenge... I guess if I do both every day for a while I'll get used to it. I usually go through phases of one or the other.

Do you gig on cello? IMHO practicing a different instrument is a good way to unlock your mind so you can explore new ideas on the bass.

Very rarely gig on cello - thinking of doing some pit orchestra gigs though so practicing cello reading, at the same time have some new written bass parts to learn. Hence the need for aspirin :)
