Real or fake rickenbacker

Legit Ric, likely not so, the seller. If he can't be bothered to take a pic of the jackplate, something's up, or he's a clueless crackhead.
i've had pics i took of my own bass used in an ad once - it wasn't my ad, and i wasn't selling my bass. if the background in the pics is from a store, most likely that's what's going on.
On reverb if your only payment option is PayPal then its 100% always a scam, 99% also a stolen pic scam
..and they hope you were "born yesterday". The "not having pictures of the jack" is a clue, and yes, $650 is "too good to be true", so it's almost certainly a scam. Sending $650 to someone who isn't going to send you a bass puts you further away from being able to buy an actual Rickenbacker.
A legit store wouldn't sell a bass that's worth thousands for $650 - they know what they have, and they definitely aren't in business to give away basses at far less than what they can get.
Hmmm - here are the same pictures:

The bass in those pictures is in a guitar store, being sold for almost 6 grand. Whoever is trying to sell you a "bass" can't take pictures of the jack on a bass he or she doesn't actually have. Definitely a scam.

It’s for sale on Reverb. Unless you’re speaking with Southside Guitars, it’s a scam.
Just look at the prices of the plain mij Fender Jazz bass. That should tell you everything about the shop lol
That would make it approx $8,748.91AUD..for that price it betta have a solid gold jackplate...hate to think what the shipping to Aust. would cost too loll...maybe I should ask him lol

At least in the text/message screen cap the pictures seem clearer. At first I was gonna ask if they could spare you a few extra pixels for those blurry pics they took
