Real Overdrive!

I've got another idea.

Would if I put a Micro Amp right in front of my Guv'nor and max it, and put the level low, or put the micro amp in the loop? Would that make it more intense?

Yeah because overdriving solid state gear has always sounded soooooo good :eyebrow:

I shall repeat what everyone else has said

THE MICROAMP MAKES YOU LOUDER, IF YOU NEED TO BE LOUDER AT THE CLICK OF A BUTTON GET IT, ELSE JUST TURN YOUR VOLUME UP.

the pedal is a clean boost thats all it does is make you louder, putting it in the loop of the Guv'nor will either make it louder, or make part of the signal louder, in which case you might as well turn the pedal up.

I'm sure you've noticed by now, but i'm not very good with amps and stuff like that. So continue to be sarcastic or facetious or whatever you would like to call it. But thank you for your help, I know what to ask and what not to ask.

I'm sorry if you took offence at my post but I just thought I would put what the other people in this thread have already mentioned, and you seemed to have ignored by asking the same question over and over again.

Just incase you missed the points that every one has tried to help you with.

The MXR is solid state right? Solid state stuff just doesn't sound good overdriven (cranked up) while tube stuff sounds great. I'm not familiar with said pedal but if it's just a kind of volume/gain pedal and not a true overdrive pedal, it'll sound real bad cranked up to the max.

I've tried the Micro Amp in front of my Ampeg SVP preamp, and it's basically the same as turning up the input gain knob, so unless you need to boost your input level mid-song

But just turning the volume up on a SS amp (or pre-amp) and pushing it to saturation doesn't sound good.

u can use a micro amp to drive a preamp harder so THAT gets overdriven (only do this w/ tube preamps, SS does have a horrible sound)...but u cant use the micro amp as an overdrive pedal...its a clean gian boost,

Both Timmy C and Flea use the micro amp and its probably just to have a volume boost for solos or when ever they need to be noticed more.

Again I agree the Micro Amp can not be used for overdrive, unless u are overdriving a tube amp and if you intend to have this as your main sound on all the time you might as well just crank the input gain.

To me you seem like your trying to justify having an mxr microamp just because Timmy C does, and your just trying to figure out a reason to have it and use it. Which at the end of the day leaves you with a pedal last months bass hero had and you'll get very tired of it very quickly.

Hope this helps, and at no point do I intend to offend.
