Really, really dumb things you want to do

That's all I have, are dumb band and project ideas,

In college, I was a guitar-playing dark figure in a small school of goody-goodies who talked aloud of how cool it was to do your homework and eat fruit instead of candy (I exaggerate not). I wanted to form a Hardcore (another no-no at school) band to scare these people, called "The Fruit Nutrition Killers", with all kinds of scary "Timothy/In The Year 2525/D.O.A."-style horror lyrics.

Another time, I wanted to have a band so inluenced by the 13th Floor Elevators that it even had a Tommy Hall-like jug player. I wrote these horrible lyrcs about taking acid . . . when I had never taken acid, before or since. Just like the music; don't care to try the drug.

I wanted to write a song cycle about my favorite obscure local architecture (glad that I didn't fret chord one on that project).

There are millions of bad ideas that I've had, but, at this late hour, those three are what come to mind.

This is why I try to merely practice my bass these days. The discipline keeps my mind from going conceptually wonky like this.

I wanna be buried at midnight with spider webs on the chairs, plastic spiders scattered around, and the preacher in a cowl. Also, a whole section of upright basses playing the opening lines from The Firebird, by Stravinsky. Some weird lighting, too. If only a thunderstorm would come along that'd be perfect. A truly scary funeral, ya know. Probably against the law or something, and probably few in attendance, but I think it would be awesome. My tombstone would read "I'm a Goner" (might actually do that, tell ya the truth). Mwahaha...

2) I know a few policemen in this town. I have always wanted to get them to block off a street downtown and try to recreate that old U2 video by setting up on top of a building and getting a bunch of communications students I know to bring video cameras just to see how far I could take the joke. I mean play it up BIG TIME. Get a few friends to run through the college campus down there and spread a rumor that a famous band is filming a music video on a roof downtown. If I could get a crowd of like 5,000 to ditch class and run into the streets only to play something like "Brown Eyed Girl" or "Dancing Queen" (or something else equally ridiculous) that would be epic. I would watch the video every day for a very long time.

I saw Limp Bizkut (or whatever) do this ~1999, in downtown Royal Oak, MI. Set up on the roof of the local record shop and played a few sets. Not sure they cleared it with the city first or not, but it effectively shut down the sidewalk and street... so the cops were there either way.
