Double Bass Rebinding Simandl

Yep.
I took mine to a large copy shop, they cut the left edge off then spiral bound the whole thing.
Sometimes I get them to print and spiral the free stuff, like from imslp.

I take every new music book that I get (including my fresh Simandl from two months ago) to my local UPS store and have them cut and spiral bind them so they sit on the stand better.
I take all my music soft covers to FedEx. For the Simandl books they charged me $6.00 each and used the multi hole black metal spiral with clear front and back covers. It's great.
someone once taught me to stand the new closed book vertically on its bound edge and then gently open and press down gently a few pages at a time on each side until you reach the middle.This accustoms the book to being opened without stressing its binding so much. Spiral binding makes music harder to store. I use pre-cut cardboard fold out files to store my stuff vertically. But, yes, Simandl is hard to keep open on the stand. Try large cheap plastic spring clamps or clothes pegs. I always keep a few in my kit for windy or draughty gigs.
