Recommend a 15 please

Hi TBers

One of my friends has offered to buy my old bass amp and bass off of me for $220 (Fender Rumble 100 and Ibanez GSR190). So now I can finally upgrade my current rig.

I use an Ampeg B2re and an Ashdown MAG410 cab. I'm looking to add a 15 to the rig within the 250-300 dollar range. I was looking at the Ashdown MAG15 but everyone on this site says its a piece.. so I'm asking your help.

I play heavy rock.. kind of.. I like growly gritty tone.. kind of like egh. I don't know. heres my bands myspace.

I recorded that direct through an Ampeg B15 flip tube amp thinger.. which I cannot afford..

So.. yeah. Recommend a 15! (or maybe even a 2x10... maybe.)

DO you like the 4x10? Maybe get rid of that and get one higher end cab? Or get the matching Asdown 15 if you like your 410.

If they are still selling them, call Ray Hennig's Heart of Texas Music at (254) 778-7422 and talk to them about a Dietz 15" cabinet. They make all of them to order, but there are usually a number of used ones around, especially a common configuration like the 115. They are old school - heavy cabinet with an EVM inside - but about as solid a 115 as you will find IMO.

Those are good sounding boxes. It's an EV TL606, same thing as a Mesa Diesel. I didn't realize he was still making them, what with the EVM15L getting harder to find these days. I think the TL606+EVM15L is an under appreciated classic. You actually might be able to get the Mesa for around that price as well.

Man I hate not having unlimited money..

I'm thinking about selling the MAG and just getting a 4 ohm avatar... because now that I think about it.. I don't really want to haul around 2 heavy a** cabs.. and the avatar is light.. not TOO expensive.. and high quality by what I've heard.

All true - but if you are thinking of an Avatar 115, sadly they do not make those any longer.
