Recommend a decent 5 string for under $800

I have an ibanez btb575 up on eBay right now. The listing is going to end in 24 hours. It's a great bass for the price. I'm looking to upgrade to a 4 string so I'm selling. It's got bartoloni pickups and 2 octave range. Tons of tonal range. A mid range boost. You can lots of great tones out of it. It's listed as 5 string ibanez btb575 with free hard shell case. User name is cderosa85. Check it out.

I'm actually loathe to point you to it, but this one is one I've been eying in the classifieds, despite not having any disposable income.

It's a MIM Jazz, but it's active! A little worn, but well within your price range.

Great bass except for one problem! The OP said he has shoulder problems and wants a lighter bass. I had one of these when they first came out. Loved everything about it except the weight. I could not get through an entire gig with it because it killed my neck and shoulder. So for that reason alone I would skip that particular model.

+1

I bought a BTB575 a few months for well below $800, and its a great bass. Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah, it's probably good to steer clear of jazz basses in that price range if weight is a concern.

There are 3 I would recommend: a Squier Affinity Jazz 5..a Carvin B5..... & a Peavey Grind 5. I have a Squier Affinity Jazz 5($227 new) which I simply put a Hipshot bridge on & a set of Dogal flatwounds. It sounds killer with the stock pups. I like them MUCH better than stock Fender pups that come on a MIM Jazz 5. My other favorite would be the Grind. I don't own one but I played one in the store and was impressed with the sound and playability.
