Recommend a Sweetwater Sales Engineer?

I haven't bought anything at Sweetwater in about 15 years so I don't remember my sales engineers name. He would call quite often to see if I needed anything. I stopped buying at Sweetwater because Pro Audio Star was closer to me, gave a good discounts over the phone and at the time like Sweetwater didn't charge sales tax to out of state buyers. These days I mostly buy from Guitar Center because they are local and offer 15-20% coupons a few times a year.

I had a guy for years that played bass. Not the most knowledgeable, but at least had some clue what I was talking about. When that guy retired, they assigned me some guy that is a DJ. Really? Had no clue about bass gear at all. I have not bought from Sweetwater since. Just buy from GC with a coupon and get a lower price. Figure out the gear myself. With the help of TB, of course.

For everyone talking about the term “engineering”. Silly I didn’t think of this before, actually!

my guess about the phrase has to do with how they advertise the role, the pay structure, and the requirements for the job.

they don’t want to call it technical support, because the qualifications may not match exactly what they want vs. the candidates they get for open positions……just my thoughts a someone from the medical device industry who’s had to hire an entire team lately.

As someone who was a buyer in the music (record) biz for many years and later was a buyer in the book biz many years, I think of my Sweetwater person as a sales rep. They very much act in the same way on a retail level as the wholesale reps I dealt with at record labels and book publishers did...they knew their product, often could help me make educated decisions and kept friendly contact that wasn't annoying. It's an actual professional thing to act that way.

I guess I have to speak up for my guy, Evan M. - after all the previous entries, not very many repeats. Just called today check on how I was doing with the the EHB I just bough a few weeks ago. Also probably saw that I had a Larry Carlton L7 Goldtop in my cart and pulled the trigger on it. (They apparently check on that in case you add something and forget about it.)
