Recommend me a reverb pedal

Currently have the Mr. Black Supermoon in the chain...its versatile, has an added modulation and sounds incredible...

But...as with any gear...my opinion is what works for one may not for another, so go try a bunch out and make your decision based on your needs and ears...I'm sure you will find what works best for you!

I just went on this hunt and it came down to these two. If I were independently wealthy I would have both. I am not so I went with the half-the-price (with coupon) yet more flexible HOF. Afterneath will happen. Eventually.
I tried a bunch of others including the Walrus. The Quint Anderson you tube video is great, but I found the pedal got real wild real fast. . . outer space yes but with a monkey flying your saucer and some bees in your flight suit. There were definitely usable settings. I just would recommend giving that puppy a try in person before plunking down 200+.

What's up everyone! Actually, after watching a ton of videos I narrowed it down to the big sky and the empress reverb. I just bought the empress, pretty excited to get this 
My setup has 2 BitQuest pedals in it and both of those have a reverb function I really like. However, I wanted a dedicated reverb pedal because there are too many cool sounds (other than verb) on the BQs I wanna use in conjunction with reverb. I'm gonna have a lot of fun! Thanks for all the responses.

I thought I'd really dig that pedal, but the time I spent trying it was frustrating at best.
Strymon Big Sky looks to be a monster, with a matching price tag.
I couldn't get along with the Afterneath either. It stores the oscillation even when the pedal is off, making it unusable for me (turning it back on after a swell is no good)
I like my polara a lot. I've been thinking about getting the new eterna gold as well. I really like the modulation setting on the polara. Used it for couple softer parts on the album we're finishing up where I'm playing more chords and soloing type stuff high up the neck. It's a cool sound. More interesting than most modulated reverbs I've heard because you can hear reverb, chorus, and even flanger all going at the same time. Thinking about getting the eterna gold to have a 100% wet shimmer at all times for some ambient filler between songs or during intros and stuff. I want the eterna gold in particular because it seems to track faster than anything else right now.I honestly think from demos I've heard the new boss sounds pretty impressive, it's basically up there with strymon as far as tonal quality. But like the strymon the boss doesn't seem to track in shimmer mode as fast as the eterna gold.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Space Echo? Just hold down the right foot switch to blast off.

I have the Caverns on my board now. I like that there's a separate switch for Reverb and Delay so you can use them independently, while the footprint remains small. Also, I like the shimmer verb for swells - adds some higher octave stuff in there. Admittedly, the Caverns does not get as "out there" as some of the others mentioned in this thread, but it does the job for me.
Edit: This guy, too. Never played it, but it looks / sounds tight and would give you lots of options.

I've not had a problem with oscillation being stored. If you've got it set so that it oscillates (Reflect knob turned past 3:00), it will bury your instrument signal anyway. If you leave the pedal on and turn the knob back some, it will gradually stop oscillating. It will "wind down" so to speak.
It's definitely not a traditional or even normal reverb and I can certainly understand how it would not be for everybody considering how it can kind of take over. I like it for slow doomy stuff.
The issue for me is that signal is stored when the pedal is stomped off (in general). I really need it to come back fresh when I stomp it back on. Otherwise, I'd have to stop playing, bend over, turn the knob and wait (still not playing) until it calms down, then turn it off and continue playing. I can see why people like it, but it doesn't work at all for my purposes, unfortunately. There's no way I would ever remember to "wait" before turning it off. Scared the daylights outta me on numerous occasions lol.
Hmm. That's weird. I don't think I've had that issue with mine. I'm going hook it up and see if it does that later on just out of curiosity.
I thought about, had one and loved it but I'd consider the Space Echo a delay that happens to have reverb. And for that it is excellent. I'd never use it as a stand alone reverb though as its pretty limited.
Haha I would imagine so, but not everyone has a spare $1,000 for the OG Roland. I picked up the BOSS for $120
I picked up an OG in the mid 90's for $100. Early bird gets the worm worm worm worm worm worm...
I have the procession on my board and it's a lot of fun to mess with, tho not always super useful when playing full band. I probably use it for about 40 seconds out of a 40 minute set but it's just too much fun paired up with a ditto looper. Constantly layering weird sounds and letting them freak people out during tuning breaks.
Yes. If you're looking for useable reverb for bass the HOF pedals are one of the best for what most people are probably wanting. The holy grail does a decent job as well. Neither has the weird spacey stuff like an OBNE pedal offers.. but really it comes down to what level of usability you're looking for.
How's the Spring Chicken? It has been on the want-list for such a long time..
