Recommend me a VERY good gig bag please..

So after reading the thread on "missing hardshell cases" and all the often wise comments from our long time professional members it occurred to me that maybe I too need a "gig bag".. As someone who's not a working musician and not having been in a regular practice schedule/band for close to a decade now I've never do too much travelling with my bass(es)... once or so a month to a Jam is the extent of it, but even then, I get get sick of hauling around the huge cases just to drive 20 min down the road and unload them out of my own car. Plus the Fender G&G's don't even fit in my sedan safely, so I have to get creative and I don't like that incase of an accident.

At the same time, I want to take maximum precautions to protect my instruments from simple cosmetic wear and digs..

I'm absolutely not familiar with gig bags, so maybe you all can give me a schooling.. what's the Rolls Royce of gig bags? Or are they all more or less the same? Is it usually 1-size fits all? or shall I get different ones? My basses are in my sig.

I purchased a Mono Vertigo while doing a little, um, intoxicated classifieds browsing. The next morning I was like OH MY GOD I can't believe I spent that much on a gig bag. After I used it for a couple of days I was like OH MY GOD I can't believe I don't regret it at all.

that dual electric bass one looks sweet.... I always like to bring two or more so that's even less hassle.

incase is the best bag I have but not all basses fit into it , like my Ric won't fit but a J or P will no problem .

I have both the Mono M80 Dual and M80 Single Bass Bags. They have worked exceptionally well for me to date.

I would highly recommend either of them.

Holy $HIT! $300 for a dual?!?! I paid about 20% of that for mine, and I've used it for over 2 years without any issues. I will have to look at the brand when I get home, but I bring my SR5, and Squier VMJ5 to gigs almost every weekend. Still going strong.

I'm sort of always on the lookout for some type of case, not a gig bag, to hold;
2 micro amps,
a preamp,
two mics,
songbook,
2 speaker cables,
3 power cables,
2 10' extension cords,
2 20" mic cables,
2 tuners,
tiny tool kit,
Small bag with various adapters,
Small collapsed music stand

I change it up, laptop bags, backpacks, lockable hard cases, haven't found the right thing yet. I liked the backpack on that mono site.. Spendy though..

seems you cannot get the Vertigo added features and protection with the dual bag... so it's going to be hard to chose.

They are spendy, I assume maybe US/EU/Japan made at least?

I've had Incase and it's a beast. More like hard case than gig bag. Great bag. Heavy though.

I currently use Vertigo for band practice transports. It's great and I personally love the top-load feature. I also own a GigBlade that I like too.

I use iGig G515D double bag for my gigs since I always take 2. They're very nice and super light with lots of pockets. They make similar in single bag. If I were to own only a single bass bag, it would probably be this one.

I've owned and gigged my Reunion Blues Continental for well over 2, maybe 3 years now, and it still looks great. I've literally thrown it in the back of the trailer and have had no issues with any of my basses. Well worth the money, IMO.

I can't even count how many $50-$70 back packs I've gone through. They just break when they're loaded with music gear and gigged around. Fabric tears, zipper fails, etc...

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one of the mono backpacks. I think it will pay for itself over time.

I use a Mono M80 for my main bass. Lots of storage room, and a block and velcro strap to hold the neck in place. Waterproof as well. I love the thing!
