Recommend me some good bands PLEASE

OP, I think you should extend your genre horizons. Look into music you generally wouldn't think to. Some music that helps get me into a musical mindset:

Starless by King Crimson (VERY diverse song, one of my favorites)

King Crimson - Starless - YouTube

Cross-Eyed and Painless by Talking Heads

Talking Heads - Crosseyed And Painless - YouTube

Never Tell by Violent Femmes (crazy technical, one of my favorite songs for bass)

Violent Femmes - Never Tell - YouTube

I actually listen to a lot of different types of music. I really enjoy Curtis Mayfield/Al Green, but also listen to Spanish Harlem Orchestra. I also get into RATM, the Strokes, and My Morning Jacket. It's just I've listened to all this music so much that I need something more refreshing. But your suggestions are all really interesting. Starless was a really good song!

Glad you enjoyed it! I just see everyone else throwing metal suggestions at you, and judging from the OP I thought that was what you were requesting. I won't lie, I generally dislike metal music (besides what isn't considered metal anymore: Iron Maiden, etc.).

If you like Morning Jacket or the Strokes you might enjoy their other great 00's bands:

Radiohead (especially The Bends, very accessable)
-Nice Dream: Radiohead/The Bends - 06 Nice Dream - YouTube
Flaming Lips (Soft Bulletin/At War With The Mystics)
The Hives

Other amazing post-rock bands include:

The Cure
New Order
The Wake

I second the suggestions of Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Battles, Tame Impala, and Isis.

I will add to that list the following bands:
Harvey Milk
Meshuggah
Liturgy
Alcest
Jesu
Wolves in the Throne Room
Kylesa
Sleep
Coliseum
My Bloody Valentine
Swervedriver
Lift to Experience
Starflyer 59 (first three albums, especially)
Sigur Ros
Voyager One
Unwound
Slint
The Twilight Sad
Tortoise
Sunny Day Real Estate
Sonic Youth
Pixies
Oneida
Liars
McLusky
Shellac
Lungfish
Moss Icon
Ride
Loop
Les Savy Fav
F****d Up
Brightblack Morning Light
Hammock
Red House Painters
Built to Spill
Deerhoof

Just be careful, OP. You can get addicted to collecting music. I'm now at over 14000 songs and counting!

Good list. +1 to Deerhoof and Tortoise. Reading it brought to mind Drive Like Jehu. A good (now defunct) band from the 90's worth checking out.
