Brown liquor doesn't bother me. But clear whiskey is another story. There's a white lightning distillery a stones throw from my house. Tastes like turpentine and is pure liquid hangover with a healthy dose of regret in a mason jar. I'll take my bourbon any day over that stuff.

Bootleg gets less filtering and doesn't get aged.

I drink a lot of tequila, but that's because I drink a lot of margaritas.

Typically Vodka is what I drink. Cheap(ish) stuff if I'm making cocktails (Skyy, Smirnoff, Stoli etc) and Belvedere or Grey Goose if I'm drinking straight. Really don't prefer to drink anything straight unless it's the kind of liquors: Chartreuse (the only liquor so good they named a color after it).

Since it's been hot lately in Norcal it's mostly cold beer, champagne or some of this pinot gris I make at work.

I have been enjoying straight Macallan's and Balvenie 12 lately. Also Bushmill's 16 is a killer Irish whiskey but it's pricey.

You really shouldn't mix anything with Hennessy, that's pretty ghetto. But those that do usually pair it with orange or grape soda.

Of this lot, the 15 Solera (granted, not tried the 30). But oooft, what a malt!

To Relax ? ... Johnny Walker Red label ... Blue if you can afford it.
Want to see vapor trails ? ... MD 20/20 ....Grape.

Red? I'd avoid that one if drinking neat, it's most certainly a mixer.

Blue is a bit of a jump on the scale, start off with some JW Black if you want a blend. That's a sipping whisky and not much more expensive than the Red. Monkey Shoulder is a great blend too (blended malt).

My go to is Caol Ila 12, just, so, good!

Sticking with the Islays, Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg will all put hair on your chest. Proper drinks right there.

Hey Mike -- have you tried Camarena? Same (stupid-cheap) price as the Lunazul, at least where I live, but IMHO a bit better in both blanco and reposado categories.

This reminds me that I ought to revive that Tequila-Lover's thread from a while back. That was a pretty lively little thread...

I get Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Booker's, and Basil Hayden if I see them when I'm in Athens or Atlanta. Out here in the sticks, top shelf bourbon is Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek and Maker's Mark, which I'm glad to get.
