Recommended Cab for Kemper Head

I didn't mean in the bass realm (fortunately!) I meant in the guitar modelling realm which we're moving sideways into with the FR800 (active) and Big Twin 2, Big Baby 2 and Super Midget (passive).

Ahhh...probably not in the EU market for the CLR. I don't think they have strong distribution outside of the continental US. If you get the chance to hear one in person, give it a shot. Do you have a US distributor for your cabinets? I'm always on the lookout for good options. Do you ever pump your stuff over at the Fractal forum? They're quite rabid over there, LOL.

We sell direct internationally, have done for about five years I think, so there are a fair few Barefaced owners in the USA - FedEx do a great job of getting most US orders across the pond by the next working day. I haven't ventured over to the Fractal forum - is it safe? I am an experienced forumister though, I've been on here since 2001 (and the Bass Player mag forum from maybe 1999 - and of course TBL from the early days of bass on the interweb!)

I bought a Gen 3 Big Twin from a fellow TB'er last summer and have never looked back. Sold all my other cabs, love this thing. Never get tired of the clear tone I get at any volume I dial up. I play it through an Aguilar DB751, which I also feel is the best amp for me, love the tone straight up and balls of power. Works great with my BF, it's all I need!

I've found that it's like any other decent forum. If you make a point of being informative, respectful, and honest, then you'll be just fine. (Hey, I should follow my own advice sometimes!) Of course, it's the overly opinionated pompous ass types that will get flamed pretty quickly. I think you'll be just fine.

Man, a lot of great developments have happened over the last 5+ years with full range speaker systems. Your Barefaced stuff looks damn tempting. I wish I were 20 years younger and a million dollars richer!

The midrange horn is a nice idea - the coax tweeter in front of the woofer is similar to what we did on the Midget T.

I remember that ages ago you did point out (somewhere on Basschat) that the coax/front mounting of the tweeter on your cab sorta worked like the "Weber beam blocker" in helping reduce the gap in off-axis dispersion between the woofer and the tweeter itself. I remember it because I'd specifically looked for exactly such a comment after learning about the blocker and wondering about the Midget T so I was glad to find it.
I guess Mitchell did have a thought for minimising beaming when he put the horn there.

Learnt a lot from those who have been genuinely helpful. Will make a decision soon. In the middle of moving house and the new house will have the new cab(s). Pity the local dealer only has the rack mount version of the Kemper currently in stock and not the head.

Thanks to all, just ordered the Big Baby 2 from Alex. Will be suitable for the room and the 8-Ohm impedance would match well with the Kemper.

The AudioKinesis ThunderChild cabs are really like excellent studio monitors that love bass guitars.
The Greenboy cabs are great as well. I like the form factor of the ThunderChild cabs a bit better for ease of transport. Can't go wrong with either though.

Take your Kemper into a store that has a good selection of PA/FOH gear.
You'll find a lot of FOH gear is ideal for modeling.

Don't limit your self to to gear targeted just for "bass".

Yamaha, JBL, QSC ... all have excellent products, at competitive prices, and easily scale up. For a bass a single top and a good sub can go a long way. And don't forget these kind of products are going to provide actual measurements and graphs for you to compare before you go to the store.

Greenboy designs are probably the only exception here for targeted to "bass", they do also have actual measurements.

After getting the Big Baby 2 (and the Big Twin 2 arrives Wed), I played a gig recently where the stage monitors were QSC. It sounded so full and solid. Made me wonder why QSC is not shown as much love here in TB.
