Recommended compressor to use in an effects loop

Hi. i'm trying to get recommendations for a compressor that is designed to use in an effects loop. I use a wireless setup with no pedalboard, so I'm not interested in hooking it up in my chain.
I guess I'm looking for a good compressor that will work well with a line signal as opposed to an instrument signal. thanks.

I'd say you can't go wrong with a DBX rack compressor. They're essentially an industry standard.

Do you know of any in pedal form? I use a Shuttle 6.0 and I'm not using a rack system.

In my, admittedly humble, experience I haven't found a pedal compressor which works well in the effects loop.

Have you tried going wireless receiver->comp pedal->preamp?

So you're going wireless receiver --> amp head? And are you plugging the receiver into the regular instrument input on the head?

Yes, I am. I use a tuner out on the amp for my tuner.

So go receiver -> comp -> head on your rack.

Exactly! You don't need a line-level comp because you're not running line-level signal into your amp. Just get any pedal you like, and put it between the receiver and the head, like he said.

But he said he doesn't want it in front of the amp, he wants it in the effects loop. What about the RNC?

He can clarify this for himself, but my impression was that he only wanted something to go in the loop because he didn't want a pedalboard involved. In this application, no pedalboard is needed--the pedal can be velcroed to the wireless unit or to the Shuttle, or attached/included in whatever way he would have used a line-level unit.

Personally I hate the RNC, but lots of others like it.

Or for that matter, a rackmounting kit for the amp and wireless receiver, and stick everything in one box.
