Recording methods...

Well my band plan on recording a ep/demo album hopefully in the March Holiday, and we got talking about recording and methods of recording.

We were saying it would be alot easier for everyone to record simultaneously whereas it would be harder to record induvidually, and this got me thinking about the mix when recording together. When mixing music that is all recorded together, how much control does the sound engineer have when mixing it, especially the bass? Can he crank up the bass guitar volume without the kick drum etc...

I know it would be better etc to record individually, as i'm pretty sure he would have a hell of alot more control if recorded individually, but i'm just curious as i have very little, if any knowledge in recording.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

he shouldn't have any problems with eq if u do it together, or seperate. you can all be pluged into different channels while you all jam it out. then he you can easily control everything seperate! sometimes if you havent got much time this is what you might do. but if/when u find dead notes, loud parts or just not so clean parts, you can just go back in and polish off that little bit.
i find it better to all jam it out at first to get the feel of the song and then put a comb through every second till things are right! but hey everyone's defferent!
good luck! and enjoy:bassist:
