Move this if needed, but it is an opinion thread about what Cab to be used for recording.
Hey guys, I have a question regarding an upcoming recording session. Normally when I record the tech uses 3 tracks: Direct in (pre pedal board), DI from amp, mic on the cabinet. I've been recording in the past with my Ampeg 410 HLF which for a 4x10 is a beast. The studio is down stairs and sometimes tough to get the cab down there. For the project I am working with (a Christian Alt Rock band) my tone tends to be more clean and they tend to use the DI or amp DI more prevalently than the cab. I will try to attach a recording when I get to my personal computer.
Now here is the question, do you think I would be ok to use my Markbass New York 151 for recording? Will I really lose any of the boomy-ness the HLF puts out? On a recording will that really get dramatically different results?
I know this may end up with me just being lazy at the end of the day, I am willing to carry the monster if needed, but if it really doesn't make too much of a difference then I will bring the Markbass.
The MB does have a brighter tone, but honestly, I'm just not too much sure if it will matter much at the end of the day when it comes to recording bass.
Input?
Here is a link to one of the songs we recorded at the same place in April. I used the above mentioned methods with the Ampeg.
