Recording setup advice?

I like watching Julia plays grooves on youtube. Does anyone know how to get a recording setup like that?

mainly, how do you take the bass out of the track and record your own in it? What programs?

I see the Scarlett, which I have, I also have GarageBand but don’t know what I’m doing with it to achieve what I’m looking to do.

Julia from Thomann? She's such a gift! I don't think she uses anything special to get the bass out of the original track, maybe a bit of EQ. You could simply record the original track to garageband and then lower the bass frequencies a bit or a bit more (40-200 hz). IIRC there are even EQ-presets like "less bass" or so.
On your bass track, I would slightly enhance the frequencies like 100 hz and 300 hz a bit. Try it.
Or do the mirror thing: lower exactly the same frequencies on the original track that you enhance on your bass track, like 6 db less 100hz on the original, 6 db more on your bass track.
I wouldn't emphasize the very low frequencies from 40-70 too much if at all. These aren't good on many headphones and get completely lost, when people are using smartphones or small computer speakers.

I hate her, because she made me listen to Knowing Me, Knowing You from Abba for 2 weeks in a row:-)

I even like it that Thomann does this: instead of talking about gear and pushing people to buy something, just let them see, how much joy and fullfillment it is to play an instrument.

This Julia:

Wow - thanks a million for linking that! Much is there for me to learn, old though I may be...

I don't see any special software tricks here - just careful preparation and skillful playing.

If you look closely, in some of the videos, you can see she has a DAW (Audacity?) running in the background. What appears to be the original song is playing in the first tracks, with a new track recording her bass playing. This is what we used to call "sound on sound" in the days of tape. The end result is a new track with a lot more bass on it than the original - which is great if you are trying to learn the bass line.

You can use the same approach - EQ away the upper frequencies when you are working up a bass line, then EQ away the lower frequencies when you are recording your accompaniment track.

I hope you have as much fun with your bass as she appears to have with hers!

Drat!

I searched for Moises on this forum, hoping to find people talking about how they managed to fix issues that pop up on Moises.

Maybe I should be looking elsewhere than Talkbass.

Of course, I tried Google.

Got breakfast cereal (Nut n' Honey!!)
