REDDI, I'm a bit confused

I'm not even remotely interested in reading this kind of un-backed up arrogance. In fact, it's another vote for REDDI, AFAIC. Bad advertising for P-15. Dude, you need some REAL BIG IMHO. And it's 'you're wrong' not "your wrong". Sorry, but English is English and I have this thing for language...

"Un-backed up arrogance"?!? 10cc went out, bought a REDDI, recorded great clips of it and the P-15 (and others), and started another thread about it.

I have rarely, if ever, seen that sort of "backing it up" on TalkBass.

As a result, I know a couple folks dumped their REDDI (10cc kept his).

Oh, yeah, I'm number 22(!) on the P-15 waiting list. I have recorded and played live with both. What is your experience, and what do you mean to add to this thread? Besides correcting grammar?

Maybe we need a "safe zone" or counsellors here on TB to protect the sensitive from being mortally offended by the opinions of others. Or maybe a soothing "IMHO" would be enough to soften the blow.(?)

No, I simply found 10cc's behavior towards others offensive - repeatedly - it appeared to be troll behavior. I guess I was wrong. Glad to hear about the other thread with clips. That's more helpful. I was just researching. So I have neither DI yet. Therefore, no technical statement or opinion could offend me. So in this case, I was simply researching REDDI threads and witnessed arrogant behavior claiming opinion to be truth and insulting others. The treatment of others is important. It used to be on TalkBass that people said something was their opinion which I think is cool. For example, I truly think there are no finer basses than mine but I don't slam others. Also, other expensive basses look flat out ugly to me but I hold my tongue and let their owners have their pleasure. Ugly human behavior is harder to ignore - maybe I am more sensitive to it. With an important Nashville gig coming up, I may get a REDDI. Then I can compare my Radial Bassbone and Sansamp Para Driver v2 to it and share.

I've had a Busy month thank God. I have been in studio at Modern Electric in Dallas.. They have their boutique Di boxes but as always, i bring my REDDI..
House Engineer flipped and as usual, said he is buying one this week.

This week I'm on session with Dangerous Guitars site .. Billy Sheehan came in town a day early . He doing some fancy stuff. I'm doing more meat and potatoes stuff on the record.
He wound up using my REDDI on one of his signal paths. I think it was his EBO pickup from his surf green bass.
Its always a fun hang with him. We trade some stories.!

Next day Gus G. from OZZYs band was on the record. I am NOT a Metal player. But i made it work.. I used the REDDI and a mic'd SVT.. together they were glorious. One of the Best headphone mixes that i have ever had.
It was after that session that the Studio Owner ordered his REDDI to have in house.

The rest of this month in on a Musical Play with hit songwriter Becky Hobbs ( Alabama, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell) and incredible Nashville studio guitarist Duane Sciacqua (Paul McCartney, Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh) He knows tone.. He LOVES my REDDI. He said " he never heard a P bass sound so %*^* great".
Just my world and my REDDI...
I know.. No photos no REDDI.. photos below
I started out with an AKG414 on the SVT but i prefered teh RE20 so they moved it over..

Your term "Always room for improvement" is very subjective! But I hear ya.. its all good..
No need to try one for my needs.. I've heard all the DRAMA and personal attacks here to steer me clear away from a P15. Im not one to swap gear as the new flavour of the week arrives.. I only swap gear if i find something is not working for a project. I get more done and it adds to consistency. Consistency is KEY..

When I am working with folks that i am blessed to , there is no need to muddy the waters or have extra knobs to twist to get "your sound" ...That's my personal belief.. Besides , every time i bring my reddi to a session, if they don't already have one , they go buy one for their next session. Studio owners are the ULTIMATE Gear heads.

As for Billy, I cant speak for him.. You will need to ask him .. He Liked the REDDI a lot.. Although he is a BAE guy.. The BAE DMP is a VERY good unit.. If you don't care for a REDDI , definitely try the BAE DMP 1073.. It is amazing.

My friend in NAshville tried the P15 , But he liked the Le Bass more and is using that on an "A" tour going out this late spring..

Have you or Billy ever tried a P-15? Always room for improvement.

I figure that it's entirely possible that all the products mentioned are very good, and as usual there doesn't need to be a "winner". Just that whomever is buying a product, gets the one that works for them and that they get value for their dollar.
The fact that some folks can get passionate about their chosen product only means that we as bass players have some really good stuff to choose from.
I look at the "argument" as passion, and not intended to be negative even though it may come across that way to someone who has a differing opinion.
I would not let any of that deter me from making the best choice for me and my coin.
I'm sure I would be ecstatic to have a REDDI, but at over $1100 Cdn plus tax, I think the P-15 is the way to go for me. Both monetarily and I like that Josh is local to me and I like supporting that.
Either way, I can't lose.

Dude you keep posting the same response, with the name drops. I could give a poopie about Billy Sheehan. Really. I'm sure he is a great guy but after playing the bass for the majority of my life I still could give a poopie. Until you or Billy or whoever else has had the chance to play thru both units, your responses are invalid. Plus even the mere mention of your ignore list is a total amateur move anyhow. Pro gear pro attitude.

I was just being cliche. At some point you find what works and go with it. There's probably a dozen units we could have and never miss a beat....just in the "bass friendly brick/pedal-style DI" niche. REDDI, BAE, Neve, Noble, Eclair, Avalon, LeBass etc. It'd be great to a/b all of them and find a favorite. We need to get a Noble owner to poke 10cc so he'll have to get one and do another compar-o.

The REDDI is great. I've used it and know it would cover anything, no problem. I prefer the P-15 for it's versatility and ability to get a little edgier. The wet out on the new ones is cool too.

10cc took his P-15 to a busy pro studio in Athens, and the owner ended up ordering two.

I used to go see Billy in Buffalo in the early to mid 80's. He was already running stereo SVTs. Pretty wild in a little dive bar!

No need to get butt-hurt over 10cc. This place is so boring anymore (now that your buddy KJung is gone, LOL). This thread turning into the 10cc REDDI vs. P-15 Comparo thread is on of the coolest things to happen around here in a while. Just mentally add an "IMHO" after his posts. Is that all it would take?

Lol, someone is apparently unaware of the "excrement filter" on this forum.

These initial threads didn't convince me that the p15 sounded better then the Reddi but it did convince me that I could use a bit more versatility. I contacted Broughton about a P15 but as luck would have it I fell upon a Monique and fell in love. I was able to compare it to my Reddi before deciding she was the one.
