You think you are happy now? Just wait until you start making some recordings that you can blast in your car or home stereo! That's when you will really appreciate what you just purchased.

Hi Jimmy,

It's so cool to see you're having fun with the REDDI and thank you for all the kind words.

Here's something that I would like to share with you.
I use the REDDI with both an SM57 and 58.
I do find that I need more makeup gain when using a dynamic mic.
BUT that's just me :D
I just wanted to let people know that you can use the REDDI with a dynamic but not with a condenser that requires 48v.

I do get emails telling me that some Engineers use 2 REDDIs on their 2buss ........go figure.......sometimes you never know what people will do with a product after it hits the market but if it works for you then who am I to say ANYTHING!

It was for Bass........and I still love it for that alone :D:D

Lisa and I don't have kids so these are our Babies and you hit it right on the head............I guess you could compare it to seeing your kids graduate from college (maybe?) :)

Hope all is well......I know this heat in SoCal is killing us ......I hope it's cooler in TX!!!!!

Ya, I haven't done a whole lot of recording anything but bass lately, but I plan to do some full-on band stuff as soon as I get my sad little home studio in order.

Only the inventor ;) I'm sure it makes you quite proud and happy that people are finding non-bass uses for it, though. It's just plain an all-around good DI for everything. I saw something on your FB page where a dude is using one to make a SS guitar amp sound more like a tube amp.

It was for Bass........and I still love it for that alone :D:D

My setup for the live recording we had this weekend...

Had to put two layers of masking tape on the blue LED to not blind anyone on the first row! :D
Had a lot of work, but a lot of fun as well.

I love the sound of this through PA, even lower grade systems. Yesterday, for fun, I put the REDDI in a power amp direct to my Avatar 153 - expecting to hear great things. Not so good at all. It drove the power amp just fine but did not sound nearly as good as through the PA even without subs, just Carvin 3 way mains. What gives? Is the poweramp really that big factor in the sound translation? It was an old Mackie FR1400 I had lying around. It was clean, just a bit brash in the mid range to my ear, not smooth and gooey at all.

Which output did you use to go into the power amp? Don't forget that the 1/4" is untreated and the gooey sound only comes out of the XLR. And the REDDI will work in some power amps as a preamp, but isn't really designed to be used as one, so that might have something to do with it as well if you were using the XLR out already.

Oh sure, i have read all the threads and then some of the REDDI - I am well aware of the non effected 1/4" out. I went with the XLR. The output of the REDDI will drive most amps that I have compared the input sensitivity to, the Mackie being one of them. It is not a big deal though, I will be using it DI to board and have my Streamliner as backline with either the 810e or the TB153.
I was just playing around and was surprised it did not sound as nice as I thought it would, and wondered how much the actual power amp plays in the tone role. Again, clear and plenty of head room, just not the same tone at all.
I really like the way the Streamliner+810 sounds with the REDDI going direct to PA - nice combo for my sound preference. I just need to do like you Jimmy and get a pair of the Ampeg 210 as the 810 is usually too much - I never drive it hard though, just like the tone. Although, I have a friend with two B15's that not only never uses them, he can't even play bass or guitar. He needs to permanently loan them to me :D

On another note, I bought the Pelican case shown early on in the thread - came in today and wow is it a nice case. Pricey? Yes. Good quality? Yes.

Ya, go appeal to him and tell him how that if he lets them sit there that they will quit working and need cap repairs. The ole "use it or lose it" argument.

In classifieds if anyone interested. I'm just not using it like I thought I would be. Brand new condition! Man, I hate to let go, but I just can't let money sit.
