REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

Added a little something manly to my REDDI. Sounds better, IMO.

I hope I won't be excessively castigated, but I got my REDDI today, and it's going back. Horrendous sound, nothing like what I've been hearing from clips here and elsewhere. Nothing but fuzzy distortion, like a heavily overdriven guitar.

You're probably overdriving your recording input. Turn down the level on the REDDI. I just recorded some clips with a passive P bass and had the REDDI level turned almost all the way to the left @ the first hash mark. Anything higher than that made the recordings distorted.

That totally shouldn't be, Fritz. I agree with Ukiah that it's likely overdriving whatever you're recording it into. The good thing about the level knob on the REDDI is the sound doesn't change regardless of where the level is set. I'd back it down considerably.

If that doesn't work, maybe the tube is ka-flooey. Or maybe it's truly broken. But that certainly shouldn't be happening. As evidenced by the recordings out there, it's a clean DI.
