REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

Hello all, I've read nearly every post in this particular REDDI thread and *think* I have what I need to setup what I want.

I just bought a REDDI. I play to use this live for worship band with the signal chain as follows: Bass-->Strobostomp HD --> REDDI --> House/PA. This will be using a monitor setup and IEMs live.

Secondly, I badly want to hear how the REDDI sounds when I practice with headphones. I think in this case I will need this signal chain: Bass-->Strobostomp HD --> REDDI --> Lehle P-Split (?) --> HX Stomp with headphones.

I do not have the Lehle P Split yet...and really do not like the HX stomp at all but probably because I do not understand how to use it and set the input and output levels or any of the other blocks, although I'm learning.

TL;DR: Do I need a Lehle P Split to practice at home with headphones to hear how the REDDI sounds?

Thank you

Brett

Ok what I ended up doing is buying an XLR female to dual TS 1/4” male plugs and plugging into the Stomp L/R inputs with a special profile that doesn’t have any blocks used.

And.

It sounds “BIG” without being loud. Just a huge soundstage full sound. My IEMs are UE900s and I love the way the REDDI sounds with headphone practice.

I bought mine used so part of this exercise was to validate the REDDI worked properly before this gig I was going to fill-in for on Sunday.

So then on Sunday I subbed for the regular bass player and had many compliments and comments about my huge sound and physically huge DI, mostly while setting up the other band mates were cracking on me and my REDDI but then after soundcheck and after the gig the drummer, guitarists and keys player were all gathered around asking about my REDDI with comments about how awesome I sounded and how huge the sound was all without being loud, etc. nice to hear that since it was my second gig EVER.

F Bass AC5–> Strobostomp HD—> REDDI —> PA with the thru jack out to my Fender Studio 40 with a B15 profile for my monitor.

Are there differences in older REDDI’s other than the paint job?
Hey man, just saw this post and thought it deserved an answer if you haven't found it yet. Old REDDI's with the painted on logo don't have the thru jack. Peter Montessi thought that bass players would never in a million years want to use it out of the studio and had to be talked into them :D Same basic circuit, though.

Love my REDDIs, hate the Neutrik input jack. After having major intermittent problems with both of mine, I'm trying this:

Considered removing the neutrik, making a small metal plate to bolt in it's place then drilling for a 1/4", but after talking with someone smarter than me, decided to leave the stock jack in place and drill a new hole.

The 1/4" switchcraft jack was wired to the bottom side of the PC board, the neutrik jack is still fully functional so available as a backup if the 1/4" fails.

Time will tell, but I'm cautiously optimistic this is going to be a good solution.

I know this is an older post, but even in the studio for more formal recordings I use the thru jack.

Its pedalboard - REDDI - out of the REDDI thru to a GK backline.

I have one of these. Bought it off Guitar Center used on the website for around $500. (About 15 years ago..) Absolute amazing tone. Contacted the company with the serial number when I bought it and Peter answered me directly. Said it was the old LEAD SLED version and one of the earilest builds, before ROHS or some other designation which i can't remember that took lead out of the transformers.

Anyway, to get past the thru jack thing, I first tried a splitter thing to my amp and it was hum galore. Bought a German passive orange splitter box to go to my amp, can't for the life of me remember the name or model, but it has worked perfectly. Super expensive for what it does but who cares. No hum ever!
