Make sure to wear loose fitting pants the first time you try it, as they will become quite tight in about a minute.

Man yer not kidding. I got a sloppy A/B test recorded last night but couldn't crank it up last night to really listen hard.

Recorded two separate direct tracks, Geddy>REDDI>Motu 8pre. One track from the XLR out and one track from the thru out.

Working from home today so I just took a little coffee break and went downstairs to fiddle and listen at proper loudness and boy oh boy, all those words like "3D" and "transparency" and "depth" n' stuff like that - it's real man. I mean, I could hear it in all the other posted clips and youtube demos and stuff, but this is different cause now it's MY fingers doing it!

Like you say Jimmy, when you go up the neck the notes don't lose their heft - and all of the above continues to apply. The whole damned fretboard sounds like it should - not just a certain area of it.

Something else I didn't expect at all - I actually found myself running the REDDI track a little lower in the overall mix cause it's just so present that it doesn't need volume to be heard. Running it lower cleans up the mix quite a bit so everything else sounds a little better too.

Wow after 30 years of pretending, I feel like I'm actually starting to learn something about music. This is cool.

Well I hardly think getting a REDDI casts doubts on 30 years worth of playing but I certainly get the feeling!

Yeah, it's just one of those the-more-you-learn-the-more-you-realize-how-much-you-don't-know kinda things. Story of my life.

But at least I know more now than I knew yesterday - and I have a REDDI too!

I have had my REDDI for about 6 months now. Killin it everywhere I go. Still have not come accross another bassist using one. Even more experienced bassists. This device is still somewhat of a secret weapon and it definitely makes this mediocre rock n roller (me) stand out!

That's the smallest Pelican the REDDI fits. "Best" though? Unless you intend to carry the REDDI by itself with no other gear, you don't mind carrying a lot of smaller items (which drives me batpoopie) or it's going to see some hard road use you may want to consider something bigger that will fit more stuff. A Storm iM2500 has room for the DI, cables, possibly a more compact micro head. I've got a bunch of Pelican cases (20 maybe?) and after trying some different options I've ended up packing the REDDI in a Tuki cover in a larger case (usually a Storm iM2620 or less often an iM2500) the with all my other loose stuff so the shlepp is cab(s), case, bass. Either of those cases works as a dolly for a single 15 cab too. But that's just what works for me YMMV. Just thought I'd toss the idea out.

I have had mine for 8or 9 years now. It has become and integral part of what i like and do... I sold everything else that i had.... Nothing came close to doing what this REDDI does...

That's just about all anyone should need to know. My experience has been the same, too. Really, for me, the only downside of the REDDI is that now that I know how good it can be, it raises the expectations for all my other audio gear.
