REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

And I a PF-50T, but I still use the REDDI all the time anyway. Sometimes all you need is a plug and play dealio, and sometimes you might want a separate DI from your amp, especially if you do like me and bring a little SS combo on some gigs.

A REDDI rackmount with a few more features would be the Shizuoka. I guess A Designs found their niche, stay busy and just aren't interested (?)

Peter's more of a studio gear guy. Almost all of what he makes is designed for the studio. Heck, the REDDI didn't even have a 1/4" out jack at first!

I loved my Reddi and I do believe folks like you and Kirk who get a real engineer most of time and don't deal with carrying the house without support most of the time, this is perfect. Of course studio use in the real deal where there is other top notch mic pres to utilize. For me and I think to Dave's point it's hard if half the time you aren't running into the house or into a junky system and you don't get to take advantage of the yummy goodness.

Was hoping someone could explain this re: REDDI starting approximately 3 min into this video-

I know Liam uses an active bass but I always assumed that there wasn't enough gain on a REDDI to act as a preamp. Is he just using it for the clean tone to blend with his overdriven tone at the FOH?

In the last few months I've been asked to sit in on a lot more gigs and a few recording sessions. I've never used a reddi, or other DI box for that matter, I've always run straight out of my head to the FOH or to a board.

How would, or would, I run a reddi through the head - in this case a Mesa D800. Sorry for the newb question, but I've been very curious about this lately.

REDDI xlr to board, REDDI 1/4" to amp.

Has anyone used the 2 channel REDDI to go thru channel one into channel two and use the second channel to drive a mic pre and power amp.

I know it's probably to complicated for a live amp but I'd be curious if the results.
I posted the video of Liam reviewing his on-stage gear and he also brought up using the REDDI to drive his signal. I had always assumed that the REDDI couldn't do that. Is there something updated about the DI that will allow that now?

Sweet! A Rush fan the Tom Sawyer nod), too. Is that signal chain just Lull-->Reddi-->DAW, and did you (or whoever mixes) have to due much post processing? Great tone. I loved how you were able to keep the bass loud without drowning out the mix. That's awesome. I've not been able to come close (yet).
For that particular tune it was just the REDDI.
I go into more detail on my recording process at the end of this video were I mention the REDDI (its usually a split a mix of amp and REDDI).

For this band there is not a lot of post processing / EQ since the guitarist is using a fractal. We do a little in the mix not to stomp on eachother and that is it for the most part.

You will notice a fair amount of compression. I know some folks don't dig it but I do.

I don't think he is and was mistaken in his comments. He would likely be running the DI to the house and the uneffected thru to his SVT

I pulled an image from the video it was in the the bottom left hand corner.

The bottom left is his input signal to the right is the XLR DI and the top one is the thru which is a jack wired in parallel to the input.

Besides the fact he's not driving a power amp his signal is going to the SVT input. Prior discusses were if the DI out would have enough signal to drive a power amp. And it cannot.
